This lens is quite nifty, and for the price the quality is good as far as the materials it is made out of. If you use the suggested settings of 18mm and focus at infinity it works really well. The higher your mm the less of the effect you will get, and after about 24mm its all gone. at 18mm your image is a complete circle, and once you start to zoom you lose that edge, but as you lose it you lose the effect. The edge of the lens cause a blur on the images, I'm thinking its due to the glass or coating on the elements that distorts it, but overall the center of your image is crisp and the blur isn't that distracting. Yes, a real fish eye will not have these quality issues, but then again a real fish eye lens costs $650 dollars more than this lens because. If you're on a budget or do not plan on using this professionally I think this is a great addition to anyone's kit, due to the fact that the images taken are really interesting, and the lens is quite inexpensive.

After reading many reviews on different fisheye lenses and adapters, we chose this one for our 16 yr. old. We weren't interested in the expense of a stand alone fisheye, but wanted enough quality for our son to have some fun w/o breaking the bank. This lens adapter is great... It easily attached to our Canon EOS Rebel T1i. The pictures are clear. It's exactly what we'd hoped for.

I am rating this lens as 5 stars for its balance of price and features.
Our kids told us that they wanted a fisheye lens for their digital SLR cameras. As I started to reasearch them on Amazon, I was surprised to see the significant differences in cost. It appeared that this lens was assumed to be more of a "toy" and that real photographers should pay hundreds more for a more professional fisheye lens. That may be the case, but I can tell you that our kids (both of whom a fairly serious amateur photographers) have taken hundreds of photos with these lenses and continue to do so. Someday we may want something better - but this lens has been more than up to the challenge of handling my kids expectations.
One side note: the lens worked directly on the Digital Rebel camera - but we had to buy an additional adapator for it to work on the 40D and 50D Digital SLRs that our kids now have.

I never write reviews, so that alone will give you an idea about how happy I am with this Opeteka .20X fisheye lens converter.
Straight out of the box, this lens converter is amazing. I could not wait to take it outside and give it a try--- how did I go so long without getting one of these things?!? I'm sure the $600 real deal fisheye is higher quality, but really-- $50. You can't go wrong. The quality looks pretty good to me, and the build seems sturdy. With the included ring, I just twisted it right onto my 18-55 kit lens and ran outside. The colors are vibrant, it's straight forward and easy to use. Get this lens! You will love it.

it fits pretty good on my t1i in the box lens, and the results in pictures is pretty cool. For a beginner like myself it is definitely fun to experiment with you know, taking pictures of the dogs or trying to find that perfect facebook picture. It IS a little heavy for being an attachment, but I like it because it doesn't feel so cheap. It looks pretty cheap when you look at it on this page but its not. It is definitely worth trying this one first before actually dumping 500 plus on a canon brand one. Plus the pouch it comes with is nice when you want to carry it around in your bag.
